50 makes it 16 Urbos100s in the West Midlands

May has been a very busy month on the West Midlands Metro with trams being delivered, trams re-entering service and trams entering service for the first time. And the last day of the month was determined to go out with a bang as it saw another Urbos100 delivered – the 16th of the 22 trams currently on order.

The tram to arrive is 50 which is the 53rd different passenger tram to have been delivered for use on the network (16 T69s, 21 Urbos3s and now 16 Urbos100s). As with previous deliveries it was transported by road, ferry and road to Wednesbury, arriving at the depot around lunchtime on Wednesday 31st May having been spotted on the M5 near Droitwich during the morning.

The tram was soon unloaded and moved to the workshops where its commissioning will now get underway.

50 is the third Urbos100 to be waiting for an entry into service. It joins 57 and 56 which had been delivered earlier in the month with the higher numbered tram having recently started its mileage accumulation on the mainline.
