Out and About: A short visit to the Tyne and Wear Metro

Its time for “Out and About” again and in this edition we are going to the northeast where we take a look at the Tyne and Wear Metro.

The original fleet of Metrocars have been in the news a lot during 2023 with their increasing unreliability leading to the removal of peak time extras to try and offer a more consistent service. One unit which has been available recently has been 4084 which we see here approaching Northumberland Park. When the much anticipated Newcastle-Blyth-Ashington railway passenger service starts in 2024 this station will become an interchange between train and Metro.
