Wednesday 10th May 2023 saw the West Midlands welcome another new tram with 57 being delivered from Spain, continuing the arrivals being out of number sequence! Whereas recent deliveries have been made on Bilston Road after the service ended this one was back to being delivered directly to the depot during the middle of the day.
57 is the penultimate of the current official order of 21 Urbos100 trams being built at CAF’s plant in Zaragoza, Spain and there remain a further six to come (49, 50, 52, 54, 55 and 56). That’s another six of the 21 that Transport for West Midlands ordered but its been noted that an extra 22nd tram may also be added onto the order with a suggestion that this will at no cost to TfWM.
The tram made its way from Spain and arrived in the UK on the morning of 10th May before being transported across the country. It was stopped having left the motorway for a vehicle inspection which delayed its arrival at the depot but it turned up shortly after 1300 and after a further brief stop to wait for another lorry to unload some equipment close to the entrance it was into Wednesbury Depot for unloading to take place.
57 isn’t the last of the 21 originally ordered. The order is 38-58 (21 trams). The additional tram is 59.
Aren’t the remaining CAF Urbos 100s…. 50, 52, 54, 55, 56, 58 and 59 as the 22nd?
49 is already there isn’t it?
I don’t think I’ve got 49 as having been delivered. Do you know when it arrived? Its getting very difficult to keep up with everything especially when they deliver them in the middle of the night after everyone is in bed!
There’s been no mention of 49 there at all
There is an additional free tram from CAF
has a gesture of goodwill for the trouble wmm have he had with the Urbos 3s
Tram 59 due end of August
