Stop by Stop Nottingham Express Transit: Hucknall & Phoenix Park – Phoenix Park

After covering 50 current tram stops on the Nottingham Express Transit we come to the 51st and final stop which makes up the system with a visit to the terminus at Phoenix Park.

As we leave the cramped surrounds of Cinderhill tramstop its still single track for the tram as it makes its way towards Phoenix Park. We head under Cinderhill Road and then emerge in a modern business park which is on the final approaches to Phoenix Park. This is all constructed on the site of Babbington Colliery which originally opened in 1841 and would not close until 1986. We run next to Millennium Way East crossing some roads and then just before the terminus the line becomes double again. The stop itself has an island platform with the usual to be found on it. Phoenix Park also features a park and ride site.

  • And that brings us to the end of our journey of all current stops. There is just one more stop to be featured – “the one that got away”!

Darkness has fallen at Phoenix Park for this photo where we see 221 standing in the right hand platform ahead of departure for Clifton South on 18th September 2021.

A view from the other end of the stop at 213 in the second fleet livery. This was pre Clifton South opening as the tram is only running as far as Station Street. Date was 23rd September 2013. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior)
