Around the World in Trams: Santa Cruz 19

Its off to Tenerife once more for this week’s edition of “Around the World in Trams”.

We again feature two photos in this instalment and the focus of both photos is tram no. 19. Considering the complete fleet is made up of Alstom Citadis 302 trams it will probably come as absolutely no surprise that 19 is indeed one of that class of tram. The tram was built in 2007 and has been plying its trade on the two line system since then. In image number one we see the tram at La Cuesta with a service to Tincer. Judging by the on platform service indicator its departure will be in 3 minutes.

We then catch up with 19 a bit later at Tincer. Tincer is unique on the Santa Cruz system: The terminal points at Intercambiador, La Trinidad and La Cuesta use scissors cross-overs to enter/depart the stop, whereas at Tincer the tram terminates then moves forward to take a set of trailing points to cross over for the return trip.
