The first full week of June has been another busy one for Manchester Metrolink as not only have they welcomed the latest M5000 to the city but one of the recent arrivals has also entered service. The arrival came first with 3142 being delivered on Monday 6th June whilst just a day later 3140 entered service.
Whilst most deliveries of the M5000s – going all the way back to the very first deliveries in 2009 – have been on Saturdays this latest arrival came on a Monday, presumably affected by the Bank Holiday weekend, and it was also earlier in the day with it turning up just after 1000 instead of the standard lunchtime slot.
3142 will now start the commissioning process ahead of entering service in the coming months.
In joining the commissioning process it will join 3141 (which arrived 14th May) but not 3140 which entered service on Tuesday 7th June. Delivered on 30th April it has taken a longer period than other recent deliveries to enter service but was used for the first time on the Eccles to Ashton service.
Now that 3142 has arriving there are just five more to come!
