In Pictures: Holes filled in Blackpool!

Over the past few weeks we have seen a few holes appear in the previously laid concrete on the extension of the Blackpool Tramway and now we can report that they have all been filled in! The small squares had been removed to allow work to take place on signalling and points but with this now seemingly completed they have once again be filled so that there is a smooth complete surface once more.

There has been further overnight work taking place on Talbot Road over the past couple of weeks in connection with the tramway extension although with ongoing work on the hotel up at the old Wilko’s site it will still be some time before trams can start to be tested on the extension let alone when public services may commence.

Same situation up at Wilko’s where the holes have now gone! (Both Photographs by Tony Armitage, 4th March 2022)

  1. Nigel Pennick says:

Boris Johnson in Prime Minister’s Questions in Parliament on March 9 praised the tram extension in Blackpool as being a fine example of the government’s ‘levelling up’ agenda. He didn’t mention it has taken ten years and counting to build this short line which still has to have a wheel turn on it..

    • Malcolm Bury says:

Laughable really when you consider that the extension to North Station was approved long before anyone had even come up with the concept of levelling up, let alone having Bojo as PM.
