West Street closure in Sheffield causes limited Supertram service to Middlewood and Malin Bridge

With West Street closed to all through traffic from late on Friday 24th September only a very limited service was able to run on the Blue and Yellow routes the other side of the closure the following morning. One tram was running from Malin Bridge to Shalesmoor whilst one tram was operating on the route from Middlewood to Shalesmoor.

The road was closed following another stabbing in the city centre from around 2330 on Friday 24th September and did not reopen until shortly after 1400 on Saturday 25th September. During this period there were only two trams the Hillsborough side of the blockade with those being 114 and 116 which attempted to run some kind of service from Middlewood and Malin Bridge to Shalesmoor. Its thought that these two trams were out stationed on this side of the network overnight having not been able to get back to depot due to the West Street closure.
