Wirral Transport Show returns Sunday 3rd October – without operating trams

With the Wirral Heritage Tramway in Birkenhead still unable to operate, the return of what used to be called the Wirral Bus and Tram Show but for 2021 will be known as the Wirral Transport Show will be a bit different to how it once was but just because trams won’t be running doesn’t mean they won’t be involved!

The event takes place on Sunday 3rd October and will be taking place exclusively outside of the Wirral Transport Museum on Taylor Street with the building seemingly not yet cleared for public opening yet.

As normal there will be heritage bus services around the local area and on top of that there will be classic buses on display alongside an army vehicle display, classic cars, trade stalls and refreshments.

From a tram perspective it would appear that the highlight will be the first chance to inspect the two newest members of the Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society collection – the two Douglas Bay Horse Tramway trams which arrived earlier in 2021. Tramcars 11 and 47 were transferred from the Jurby Transport Museum on the Isle of Man in May and with the museum having been closed since (indeed closed since March 2020) there hasn’t been the chance for the public to see these two new arrivals – until now!
