Track replacement works on Phoenix Park line to see weekend closure

There will be no trams running between Highbury Vale and Phoenix Park across the weekend of 25th and 26th September to allow for track replacement works to take place. Throughout the weekend trams from Clifton South will terminate at Bullwell with  dedicated bus replacement service in operation.

The weekend closure is mainly required to allow for a section of track between Cinderhill tramstop and the junction with Millennium Way to be replaced. The opportunity will also be taken to carry out tree maintenance on the line between Highbury Vale and Cinderhill.

As a result of this work on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September trams from Clifton South will terminate at Bulwell. Any passengers wishing to travel to or from Cinderhill and Phoenix Park should alight at Bulwell with a replacement bus service then running from Bulwell Bus Station to serve both stops.

To allow for this revised service pattern to run trams will run to a Sunday service frequency of every 10 minutes on both days.

Trevor Stocker, Operations Manager for NET, said: “This forms part of an ongoing plan of maintenance and we’ve deliberately identified a weekend so as to hopefully minimise disruption to our customers. We are committed to maintaining a safe network and these works will upgrade a key section of track on the northern end of the line.”
