Lift upgrade work completed

The work which has been taking place over the past couple of months to upgrade lifts at two West Midlands Metro stops has now been completed, giving full step-free access to the stops once more.

The lifts at Bilston Central and Lodge Road have been fully overhauled and are available again with the aim that they will be providing a more reliable service to those passengers who are unable to cope with the stairs down to the platforms.

Vicki Bennett, Customer Service Manager at West Midlands Metro, said: “While the work was taking place, we introduced a wide range of measures to minimise any inconvenience, but we would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding. The investment in the upgrades reflects our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible service to customers and further improving access to our growing tram network.”
