In Pictures: Beamish – The Living Museum of the North

Saturday 8 June was another sunny day for much of the UK and Beamish – The Living Museum of the North was no exception to this. Four trams were in service during the day with open toppers Blackpool 31 and Newcastle 114 joined by Sunderland 101 and Oporto 196. Sadly British Trams Online sponsored Blackpool 233 remained tucked up in the depot throughout the day. Photos are provided by Steve Kemp.

Newcastle 114 leaves the town. Note that it still carries the side advert board celebrating 40 years of the tramway.

The fourth passenger tram of the day was Oporto 196, seen here in the classic town scene.

If I remember correctly 233 was Suffering from a serious Air Leak from the Brake Cylander at this time—-since repaired—- has been out just about every Day for the last Fortnight—-we’ve had lovely Weather…..

Glad to hear it Stuart, thanks for this info! To be fair there have probably been more days of suitable weather for Boat car operation already in 2013 than we had last year… here’s hoping that it continues.
