Lockdown Walks: West Midlands Metro 22

“Lockdown Walks” is back once more as we head into Birmingham City Centre for images taken at the current city centre terminus – Library.

With these photos taken at the start of July it would be around three weeks before it wouldn’t be able to be repeated for three months as a result of a closure of the line from Bull Street to allow for works to connect the Birmingham Eastside extension to the current line as well as some general rail replacement work on Corporation Street. Once the full line does reopen in October 2021 it won’t be long before the stop at Library is no longer a terminus and the second phase of the Westside extension to Hagley Road opens.

Two photos showing 22 standing at Library waiting out time before it departs with a northbound journey to Wolverhampton St George’s. The extension to Hagley Road will continue beyond the tram in the first shot. (Both Photographs by Martin Miller, 5th July 2021)
