Lockdown Walks: Stagecoach Supertram 106 & 102

“Lockdown Walks” continues with a trip into Sheffield City Centre.

While most tram movements on systems are passenger services there are also times when trams are out and about on networks for other reasons. Sometimes this may be for testing after repairs, mileage accumulation when they are new or possibly for driver training. And it is the latter reason that we see one of the trams in the below photo in action on the Supertram system.

This is Castle Square in Sheffield City Centre where two of the Siemens-Duewag built trams pass. On the right we see 102 which is on Driver Training – as seen with the destination display which includes a “L” in lieu of route colour. It is joined by 106 which is running on the Blue route with a service heading to Halfway. (Photograph by Stuart Cooke, 21st June 2021)
