Sunbathing for New York 674

On Sunday 2nd June, New York 674 enjoyed a rare taste of sunshine at its home, Crich Tramway Village, when it was extracted from its usual position in Depot VI. On this day the car was dragged onto the traverser, where it was treated to a wash using water from the tank of Cardiff 131 which was parked nearby.

The New York streetcar is one of the more elusive exhibits at Crich and has rarely moved in recent years – however, this may not be its only outing of 2013, as the tram has reportedly been cleaned ahead of a planned starring role at an upcoming special event later this year. Although not confirmed, the most likely event would seem to be the Enthusiast’s Day on September 14th. Although 674 was displayed on the traverser at the same event last year, making its potential reappearance slightly less exciting, any outing by this tram is likely to be welcomed by visitors, many of whom will probably not have seen it outside before.
