Around the World in Trams: Den Haag 4067 & 4017

We take another look at trams in Den Haag although this time it’s some of those vehicles branded as Randstad Rail.

Some of the routes which operated in Den Haag, including 3 and 4, are branded as Randstad Rail. Worked by three-section double-ended dual-voltage Alstom RegioCitadis cars, which were introduced from 2006, these routes work through from the Den Haag termini of Loosduinen (route 3) and De Uithof (route 4) on to the ex-NS Zoetermeer Stadslijn. These cars also operated on route 2 and route 19.

And it is route 2 where we see two of these vehicles on 5th July 2017. This is the HMC Antoniushove (Hospital) terminus at Leidschendam Leidsenhage and with a short stub terminus like this double-ended trams are a must. 4067 is waiting to leave on route 2 to Kraayenstein via Centraal Station and the Tramtunnel while 4017 will head along the relatively rural route 19 direct to Delft Noord. Since this photo the route has now been extended to Delft Station.
