In Pictures: Tramstops progress on Birmingham Westside extension

The next new tram line due to open in the UK is likely to be the second phase of the West Midlands Metro Birmingham Westside extension with service due to commence between Library and Hagley Road, Edgbaston at some point in 2021. Good progress is being made on construction works and in this article we take a look at two of the three new tramstops which now have fully glazed shelters.

The first stop that trams will call at after departing from Library is on Broad Street and is expected to be called Brindleyplace (which has a large number of restaurants, bars and other entertainment on offer). With the track and final surface having already been completed work has been concentrated on the platforms here with shelters on both platforms complete with glazing.

The second (of three) stops will be at Five Ways where the scene is much the same as the previous image with track and top surface down and shelters being installed on the platforms. (Both Photographs by Roland Bull, 4th March 2021)
