Tram-Trains return to two an hour

When you’re wondering where the next news story is coming from you can usually rely on a timetable change of Stagecoach Supertram! This time it is the Tram-Train service which is again seeing an amendment with two services an hour running again (as from Thursday 4th February) having for the past couple of weeks being down at one an hour. Services also run later again too.

The reintroduction of the more intensive timetable (although still not back to the pre-pandemic three an hour as that is still not justified with passenger numbers down) comes just two weeks after it was last reduced and now means the following first and last tram times:

Monday to Saturday

First service Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate – 0527

First service Rotherham Parkgate to Cathedral – 0559

Last service Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate – 2330

Last service Rotherham Parkgate to Cathedral – 0002

Sunday

First service Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate – 0830

First service Rotherham Parkgate to Cathedral – 0902

Last service Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate – 2030

Last service Rotherham Parkgate to Cathedral – 2102

Looking slightly further ahead and there are due to be engineering works in the Rotherham area on 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st February and 21st March which will affect Supertram Tram-Trains services:

Saturday 13th and Saturday 20th February

Normal service until last departure from Cathedral to Parkgate at 1500 and from Parkgate to Cathedral at 1531. After this time no Tram-Train service with tickets valid on Stagecoach bus tickets between Parkgate and Rotherham Town Centre and then on Northern Trains services between Rotherham Central and Meadowhall where you can change back to trams on the Yellow route into Sheffield.

Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st February

No Tram-Train service. There will be a replacement bus service between Parkgate and Meadowhall where you change for Supertram services into Sheffield. Tickets will also be valid on Stagecoach buses between Parkgate and Rotherham Town Centre.

On the conventional Supertram network there has been no change to services with the Blue and Yellow routes remaining at a 15 minute frequency Monday to Saturday daytime (20 minutes early morning, 30 minutes after 1900) and the Purple route every 30 minutes. Its also every 30 minutes on the Blue and Yellow routes all day on Sundays.
