Lockdown Walks: Manchester Metrolink 3055

In this edition of “Lockdown Walks” we are again taking a trip to Manchester to see the busy Metrolink network.

The stop at St Werburgh’s Road is a busy junction with it being the last stop before (or first stop after depending which way you’re going!) the lines to Manchester Airport and East Didbsury split and go on their respective ways. This means that when a standard timetable runs (as in before Coronavirus) it was seeing 15 trams an hour in each direction with a tram every 12 minutes on the Airport line plus the Shaw & Crompton-East Didsbury and Rochdale Town Centre-Rochdale service.

In this photo we see 3055 as it heads a service to Manchester Airport at the junction with the East Didsbury line. (Photograph by Keith Chadbourne, 4th November 2020)
