Blackpool trams looking for a new owner

In the great big Blackpool tram sell off at the end of traditional tram operation in 2011, not all the trams ended up with established preservation groups with some private individuals ending up the proud owner of an iconic Blackpool tram – or in this case two! But now a change of circumstances means the two trams – Brush Car 625 and Balloon 726 – are being made available.

The two trams have been stored undercover at Rigby Road Depot since June 2017 when they were moved back as part of a special arrangement between the owner of the trams and Blackpool Transport. They had previously been stored in the open at Wyre Dock, Fleetwood following their disposal by Blackpool Transport at the end of the traditional tramway.

Neither tram is currently operational with 625 having last carried passengers back at the end of the 2004 season whilst for 726 it ran on a limited basis during 2010. 625 retains a green and cream livery and has had some external panelling removed as part of initial attempts at restoration whilst 726 is in a faded all over advert for HM Coastguard.

A change in circumstances for the owner of the trams now means that they are seeking to find a new owner for them. If anyone is interested – or knows someone who may be – you are asked to contact the owner through the tram’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Blackpool263/.
