Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 269

In this latest edition of “Lockdown Walks” we again head to central Edinburgh for another view of a tram running in 2020.

It has now been nearly three months since it became mandatory for any passengers (except for those exempt) to wear face coverings when travelling on Edinburgh Trams (22nd June – a week later than for those tramways in England). But where it differs to English tramways is that some trams also have to wear face masks! Presumably those which don’t fall in the exemption category (although as all under 11s are exempt surely all the trams should be exempt!) A small vinyl mask has been applied to the cab ends of a few trams to help spread the message of the requirement.

269 is seen here moving right onto York Place after turning out of North Saint Andrew Street. Dublin Street runs downhill in the left background. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 18th July 2020)
