Metrolink release first performance stats since February

It has been nearly eight months since performance stats were last released on Manchester Metrolink – for pretty obvious reasons! – but KeolisAmey Metrolink have broken cover to publish the latest stats which as well as including details of the latest four week period (26th July to 22nd August) also gives an insight into the missing periods too.

When we last saw a report punctuality was at 90.5% and it is pleasing to report that since then every period (of which there have been seven – yes its been that long!) has been higher. The latest period is at 94.0% (as reminder a tram is considered on time if departing less than two minutes late) with the high point being reached in period 1 of 2020/21 (which would have been around April) at 96.5%.

The latest period saw the highest performance on the Altrincham line at 97.9% with the Oldham and Rochdale line down at 90.4%. As if to illustrated how long its been since these reports haven’t been published this is actually the first time that the Trafford Park line has featured with its punctuality percentage being at 97.7%.

Reliability – the percentage of planned miles operated – was at 98.8% in this period. The last report (leading up to 1st February) had been at 98.9% and the intervening period had seen it hovering around the same mark. This time around the top line was the Bury line at 99.7% with the East Didsbury line at 96.9%. The Trafford Park line was at 98.6%.

In these four weeks 0.64% of all planned journeys were cancelled and 0.33% of all journeys were considered incomplete.
