Edinburgh passenger forecasts down on shortened route

Following a Freedom of Information request it has been revealed that the Edinburgh Tram
line will carry less passengers on its shortened route between the Airport and City Centre than it would have done if the entire line 1 had been built – who would have thought it!

According to initial estimates 12 million passengers were to be carried on the 11 mile
route between the Airport and Newhaven but with the route now only travelling between the Airport and York Place in the city centre only 5.4 million passengers a year are likely to be carried.

The main mystery over this whole story is did it really need a Freedom of Information Act request to realise that less passengers are likely to be carried on a shortened tram route?
