NET 211 advertises Armed Forces Day

Nottingham Express Transit’s Incentro 211 has been unveiled in a new vinyl wrap livery advertising the Armed Forces Day which takes place on Saturday 29th June. The red based livery was officially launched in a ceremony at Station Street on Monday 8th April and will be carried by the tram at least until the national celebrations of Armed Forces Day. The tram previously carried a vinyl wrap livery for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Armed Forces Day national event is this year being held in Nottingham and this wrap on 211 is intended to publicise the day as the city prepares to welcome troops, veterans, their families and visitors for what it is hoped will be a memorable occasion. The main events on the day will take place on Victoria Embankment between 1000 and 1800 but there is also planned to be a parade in the city centre. 211 will be used to transport visitors to the parade and commemorative tickets will be issued for this journey.

Lea Harrison, Tramlink Nottingham’s Head of Service Delivery, said: “The City is pulling together a tremendous programme to mark the day and we are delighted to be playing our part in paying our own tribute to our service men and women. The tram will be in service right up to the day itself and so will be a high profile reminder to people in and around Nottingham of the upcoming celebrations.”

211 entered service with its new livery on Sunday 7th April when it replaced 201 on the section of line currently open between The Forest and Station Street. As reported previously the Noel Street diamond is being replaced over the Easter school holiday period and NET is running a split service with trams operating Wilkinson Street-Phoenix Park/Hucknall and The Forest-Station Street. Several trams are being stabled at Station Street overnight during this work with 211 now one of these. We will hopefully be bringing you some pictures of the work later this week.

  1. Bob says:

Can someone (from NET?) tell us how they swopped 201 for 211?
Were low loaders involved, or is the Noel St diamond replacement able to take a tram now?

    • Gareth Prior says:

At the time the swap occurred it was possible to use the Noel Street diamond straight across as the replacement had progressed sufficiently to allow this.

  2. Dan Clarke says:

But How Can They Do Any Maintainance On The Trams At Station Street If There Is Only A Small Period Of Time That Trams Can Be Moved To Wilkinson Street

  3. TM says:

201 and 211 were swapped on the night of 06/04. 211 was sent wrong route from Wilkinson Street to The Forest via Shipstone Street and Noel Street in a specially arranged move.

All maintenance on the trams was planned and completed prior to the works. Trams were washed and cleaned overnight at Station Street and and faults rectified.
