More timetable adjustments on West Midlands Metro

As the changes in travelling habits of the public continue as a result of the Coronavirus and the restrictions put in place by government, the West Midlands Metro have announced that they will be making further adjustments to the service operated from Monday 27th April.

A recent poll found that 80% of those who are still travelling on the line, linking central Birmingham and Wolverhampton, are key workers and in recognition of their valuable work early morning and evening services will continue throughout the week.

From Monday 27th April trams will run every 15 minutes every day of the week with first trams Monday to Saturday at 0510 from Library and 0515 from Wolverhampton St George’s. The final trams will run at 2330 from Wolverhampton St George’s and 2340 from Library. On Sundays first trams are 0755 from Wolverhampton and 0800 from Library and last trams will be 2255 from Wolverhampton St George’s and 2300 from Library.

Carl Williams, Metro Director of Operations, said: “Our services are under regular review so that we can adjust timetables to meet the current needs of customers who are key workers, or still need to travel for medical reasons, to support a vulnerable person, or for the collection of essential supplies. These latest changes to the timetable will ensure we maintain a robust service for those who need us through these unprecedented times.”

For the rest of this week the current timetable which sees trams every 15 minutes until 0630 and from 2000 with a frequency every 12 minutes at others times Monday-Saturday (Sundays had already reduced to every 15 minutes) will continue to operate.
