NET to be split into two for trackworks

Services on Nottingham Express Transit are to be disrupted for two weeks from Friday 29th March until Sunday 14th April as work is undertaken on the Noel Street crossing to upgrade it in time for the increase in services once the phase two extensions open in 2014. As a result of this trackwork trams will only be able to run between Phoenix  Park/ Hucknall and Wilkinson Street and from The Forest to Station Street with replacement buses operating in between.

Nottingham Express Transit have chosen the Easter period to do this work because both the trams and the local road network are expected to be quieter than normal and it is hoped that disruption can be minimised to passengers at this time.

Tram stops at Noel Street, Beaconsfield Street, Radford Road, Shipstone Street and Hyson Green Market will be closed throughout this period with passengers who normally use Noel Street and Hyson Green Market advised to travel from The Forest and those who use Shipstone Street should catch their tram from Wilkinson Street. There will be a temporary bus stop situated near Radford Road and those passengers who use Beaconsfield Street and Radford Road tram stops should catch the Wilkinson Street-The Forest bus service from here.

Tram services will run at the usual frequencies between Phoenix Park/Hucknall and Wilkinson Street and from The Forest to Station Street although a slightly revised timetable will be in operation (more details at http://www.thetram.net/pdfs/disruption/1013-Noel-Street-Leaflet_Fin_webpdf.pdf).
Presumably some access will be maintained between Wilkinson Street and The Forest during the trackwork to allow trams access to and from the depot although it is likely that a spare tram will be stabled at The Forest during the day.

In connection with these works there will be a number of road closures and diversions in place with clear signage put in place to advise motorists.
