New off peak tram travel offer to be launched in Sheffield

Travel South Yorkshire and Stagecoach Supertram are teaming up to offer a new special
off peak day ticket on the Supertram network on weekdays between1000 and 1600 – with superheroes being used to publicise the offer!

Superman and Superwoman will be at Cathedral and Castle Square tramstops next week to give information out on the ticket plus the benefits of using the tram. The ticket will cost just £2.80 and will be available for purchase between Monday 5th and Friday 30th March.

David Young, SYPTE Director of Customer Experience, said: “Travelling by tram outside
of peak travel times is an easy and trouble-free way to get around Sheffield. It gives you more chance to find a seat, more room for the kids, and more room for your shopping bags. We’re delighted to work with Stagecoach Supertram to offer passengers this great ticket deal.”

Margaret Kay, Stagecoach Supertram Managing Director, added: “With these good value
fares, getting around Sheffield during the day has never been easier or better value. We hope people will take advantage of this offer by leaving their cars at home and taking our greener, smarter tram services instead.”

Superman and Superwoman will be in Sheffield City Centre as follows:

  • Monday 27th February between 0730 and 1530
  • Tuesday 28th February between 0900 and 1700
  • Wednesday 29th February between 1000 and 1800

A competition has also been launched at http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/tram/ with £250 high street shopping vouchers and a monthly Megarider tram ticket valid on Supertram the prizes.
