Metrolink continue further towards Ashton-under-Lyne

The early hours of 4th March saw further gauging runs on the East Manchester Line between Audenshaw and just short of the terminus at Ashton-under-Lyne utilising M5000s 3059 and 3061 which had remained at Audenshaw over the weekend.

Having departed the secure compound at Audenshaw the trams carried on to Ashton Moss crossover as per Friday mornings run. This time, however, they did not stop there and continued further east towards Ashton-under-Lyne. Slow progress was made as measurements were taken at poles and platforms to make sure everything was as it should have been. The two trams made it as far as Oldham Road (between Ashton West and Ashton-under-Lyne stops) after which they turned back to return to Audenshaw as time had run out to go any further. The plan is for testing to carry on for the next couple of nights.
