Santa’s getting ready on his…tram!

It may be hard to believe but in around two months time Santa will be getting on his sleigh to deliver toys to all the good girls and boys, but before the big day he’s going to be a busy man as he will be visiting tramways across the UK with Beamish, Birkenhead, Blackpool, East Anglia Transport Museum and Seaton all having events in the lead up to Christmas.

For Seaton it will be the return of the Polar Express Tram Ride with a two and half hour experience based on Warner Brother’s hit film. The experience departs from Seaton Station and heads to Colyton (or the North Pole!) where the elves are putting on their elf show in their workshop and discover whether you’ve been naughty or nice in the naughty detector. All passengers will be able to visit Santa’s home and receive a gift and there will be freshly prepared hot food and drink, including mulled wine. The return journey will still Christmas Carols. One of Seaton’s single deck saloons will be used for the trip.

Tickets for Seaton’s Polar Express Tram Ride start at £24.95 which includes the round trip, Hot Chocolate & Cookie and a gift from Santa. The experience runs on selected dates between 28th November and 24th December and can be booked online at https://www.tram.co.uk/ThePolarExpressSeaton.

Elsewhere, this Christmas the Birkenhead Tramway will have Santa Specials on 14th December with tickets only available in advance and in person at Taylor Street Museum with the first tickets available on Sunday 20th October.

At the East Anglia Transport Museum, the Santa Tram takes place on Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th, Friday 20th, Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd December. Again pre-booking is required and this can be done either online, at the museum or by phone on 07759 698437.

Christmas at Beamish takes place daily between 16th November and 24th December which will include Santa’s Grotto, an ice rink, the Beamish Bazaar and a fairground. There are also evening Christmas events but these are sold out at the time of writing.

And last but by no means least Santa will also be visiting Blackpool with Santa Specials on Saturday 7th, Sunday 8th, Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd December – this time no pre-booking is necessary and on top of Santa in his tram grotto there will be a heritage tram service too!
