New App launched for NET giving cheaper travel

NETGO!, a new app developed by a local company, has been launched for Nottingham Express Transit which as well as giving all the latest travel information can be used to purchase tram tickets – cheaper than buying from the machines. The app was officially launched on Monday 14th October with over 3,000 people having already downloaded it by launch day itself.

Although official launch was on 14th October a number of passengers had been using before then with NET encouraging people via social media to try it out and the feedback so far is said to be positive with good reviews given through the app store.

NETGO! offers quick and easy access to the most popular travel offers, as well as up-to-date travel information. Tram journeys can be planned using the network map and there is also instant access of users tram ticket purchase history.

Single, day and group tickets can be purchased through the app and to celebrate the launch they are cheaper than buying at the ticket machine (a sentence which may tend to suggest it won’t be a permanent reduction). The reduction in price is also not announced in the press release!

Andrew Conroy, Chief Operating Officer of Tramlink Nottingham (operator of NET), said: “This is the first phase of our app development and it will continue to evolve over the coming months. This is the first phase of our app development and it will continue to evolve over the coming months. At the same time we’re also pleased to be supporting a local business through the app, which has been built by city centre-based developer Gooii Ltd.As well as making it easier to hop on a tram, the app will bring together everything you need to know about travelling on the network into the palm of your hand!”
