Very small decline in Metrolink punctuality

It is that time again to take a quick look at Manchester Metrolink performance with the statistics for 18th August to 14th September now released. This time around there has been a decline in punctuality (although only be 0.1%) whilst reliability has increased from the previous period to 98.1% (from 97.4%).

In these four weeks the report shows that 89.9% of trams were considered on time – that’s departing less than two minutes late. The top performing line was East Didsbury (95.9%) whilst at the other end of things it wasn’t so good for the Bury line where just 85.5% of trams were considered on time. Of note this time around is that only the East Didsbury, Oldham & Rochdale and Altrincham lines managed figures above 90% with all other lines below this level.

As for reliability the 98.1% figure is a slight increase from the previous four weeks (reliability is the number of planned miles actually operated). All lines were in the same range of reliability ranging from 99.4% for the Airport line down to 96.4% for the Eccles line.

Overall 0.49% of all journeys were cancelled throughout with 0.54% of services described as “short journeys”.

For the second period in a row the report doesn’t list any specific route service disruptions or what they did to improve things so we can’t describe any of those!
