Picture in Time: Docklands Light Railway 06

Its another change of scene for our modern tramway/light rail edition of Picture in Time as we move back down to London for the next few weeks and feature different liveries as carried on the Docklands Light Railway over the years.

Completely segregated the Docklands Light Railway does very much come into the light rail category rather than tramway and has been running successfully in London’s Docklands for over 30 years now. Whilst the vast majority of trains over the years have carried a number of different versions of fleet livery there have also been times when adverts have been applied and one such unit to have received an ad was B2K 06. This train was one of 24 such units built by Bombardier in Belgium in 2001, the last of this design to be ordered for the DLR.

By the time we see the train at Canary Wharf on 13th March 2006 it is actually just in plain red and white as the vinyls for its advertising contract has been removed although a full repaint hadn’t followed. The train was one of several to “Back the Bid” for the 2012 Olympics but here its just red and white! On this day it was partnered with sister unit 97 working a service to Lewisham.
