As well as unveiling a special 20th anniversary livery on Urbos3 19 as part of the celebrations West Midlands Metro also recognised those members of staff who are still working on the network having been there from the beginning. More than 20 staff of the original team are still employed by West Midlands Metro and they were all invited to the special VIP party at Wednesbury Depot on 30th May.
Each member of staff was presented with a special award at the event which included a framed certificate recognising their long service.
Carl Williams, West Midlands Metro Director of Operations, said: “As we mark a major milestone for tram services in the region, it’s only fitting we recognise the enormous contribution made by our longest-serving employees. They’ve been with us right from the start and played a huge part in building a network that everyone in the region can be proud of.”
