Metrolink engineering works for Easter

Whilst over in Sheffield the Easter weekend sees the start of a long period of rail replacement works, Manchester Metrolink will also see a closure for engineering works although in this case it is just three days where there will be disruption to usual services. Both the Bury and Rochdale lines will be affected with service changes also in place for other lines.

The good news about Good Friday firstly is that a normal Saturday service will run across the whole network. Then on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April there will no services on the Bury line and between Exchange Square and Monsall on the Rochdale line.

The following services will run on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April:

* Manchester Airport to Deansgate-Castlefield

* East Didsbury to Exchange Square

* Altrincham to Piccadilly

* Rochdale and Shaw & Crompton to Monsall

Services on other lines won’t be affected and a replacement bus service will be in operation in the affected areas.

Then on Monday 22nd April it will be back to normal for trams to Rochdale with the Bury line seeing no service between Bury and Queens Road only. Services from Altrincham will operate to Piccadilly (as normal) and the usual service which goes to Bury will be curtailed at Queens Road. Again, there will be a replacement bus service.
