Blackpool Transport throw open the doors to Starr Gate Depot for Disabled Access Day

On Saturday 16th March 2019 – Disabled Access Day 2019 – Blackpool Transport will be showing how easily accessible their tram and bus fleet are with a special Accessible Open Day at Starr Gate Tram Depot between 1000 and 1600.

One of the huge benefits of public transport in the 21st century – and especially modern trams – is their accessibility providing an easy way for those with a disability to get around and Blackpool is no different. This special “all access” day will provide an opportunity for attendees to gain a further understanding of Blackpool Transport’s commitment to ensuring transport is accessible to all.

For many with disabilities the thought of travelling on public transport can be a nervous time and the idea of this day is to show how easy it is to access Blackpool Transport’s tram and buses. Disability Awareness staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions and crucially the event will allow the opportunity to board both a tram and a bus in a safe and unpressured environment.

As well as this chance there will an opportunity to see behind the scenes at the tram depot and understand how a modern tram depot operates with hourly trips through the tram wash.

There is no need to book in advance with access being provided through the main entrance a few metres from Starr Gate Depot.
