Car hit by tram on Airport line road crossing

Manchester Metrolink services to the Airport were disrupted for approximately an hour on Tuesday 12th February after a car “strayed onto the tracks” and was hit by a tram close to the stop at Northern Moor. No injuries were reported.

3089 was the tram involved with the car said by Metrolink to have “strayed onto the tracks” when it was hit. No obvious major damage was caused to either vehicle but the tram service was suspended between Sale Water Park and Martinscroft for around an hour from 1000 whilst the car was removed from the scene and the tram – which was bound for the Airport at the time – was recovered back to depot for assessment.
