Picture in Time: Blackpool Balloon 721

Another early 1990s view features in today’s Picture in Time as we are back in Blackpool once again.

This photo shows Balloon 721 standing at the southbound Bispham stop (somewhere which seems to always been one of my favourite photographic locations). At this time 721 was in the attractive 1980s Green and Cream fleet livery which had the addition of extensive side advertising with not just T ads but also lower panelling adverts for the RSPCA. The tram looks as if it was on specials with the driver just about to change the destination blind (which is still reading Bispham) for its southbound journey, probably for Pleasure Beach. 721 was withdrawn from service at the end of October 2009 and is now in the north east at the North East Land Sea and Air Museum near Sunderland.
