Blackpool to take advantage of events

Two interesting developments to report of in Blackpool – the first of which is on Sunday! To take advantage of the expected high visitor numbers Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours will be operating four trams on Sunday 22nd July whilst a couple of weeks down the line Blackpool Transport will be introducing a Park and Glide service for visitors to the Airshow.

Blackpool Carnival takes place on Sunday 22nd July and throughout the day a four tram heritage service will be on offer between Pleasure Beach and North Pier/Tower (with a few journeys extended to Cabin). In addition a temporary heritage tram stop will be placed at Waterloo Road. Trams will run between 1000 and 1730.

Then on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th August Blackpool Transport will be trialling a Park and Glide service using both buses and trams to cater for visitors attending the Blackpool Airshow. With town centre car parks expected to be very busy on both days (up to 50,000 visitors are expected on each day to watch the airshow) Blackpool Transport are publicising a car park just 10 minutes drive from the M55 where you can park your car for the day. A bus will then run from there to Starr Gate where visitors can change on to a tram to complete their journey. Car parking will cost £7 with reduced travel then available on the trams and buses (a 24 hour ticket for an Adult will cost £4.50 instead of £5.50).
