RAIB look into passenger trapping incident on Metrolink

The RAIB have announced that they are been investigating an incident on Manchester Metrolink at the end of May which saw a passenger get their hand trapped in a door as a tram pulled away from Bury.

This happened at approximately 1333 on 30th May 2018 with the passenger remaining trapped in the rear set of doors of the tram as it moved around 15 metres along the platform before the driver stopped the tram and opened the doors. The passenger was seemingly not too perturbed by the incident as he then hopped on to continue his journey.

A preliminary investigation was undertaken by the RAIB and they have decided it doesn’t warrant a full report with a safety digest due to be published within the next few weeks.
