Black Country Women’s Aid, the West Midlands Metro charity of the year for 2025, have been presented with £5210.18 following a year of fundraising by staff at the tram operator.
As well as the presentation of the money to the charity, several members of the Metro team have donated their time to provide hands-on support during volunteer days. And over the festive period, they also donated more than 50 gifts, rounding off the successful year of fundraising.
Vicki Bennett, Metro’s Customer Services Manager, said: “A raffle, sponsored walk and coffee‑morning activities all contributed to the funds raised, along with ad hoc donations and cash from unclaimed lost property, which was then doubled through the Big Give match-funding campaign. Throughout the year, we also donated unclaimed lost property to various local charity shops as part of our wider support for the communities we serve.
“We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our fundraising efforts in 2025. The team is now looking forward to adopting another worthy cause to support in the year ahead.”
Black Country Women’s Aid provides refuge and community support for more than 8,000 victims of abuse each year, helping them to escape violence, recover from trauma and rebuild their lives.
