Chance to cover rare track on Nottingham Express Transit

A special charity tram tour on Monday 7th May will give lucky participants the chance to cover some rare track as well as seeing behind the scenes on Nottingham Express Transit. Raising funds for local charity Lucky Stars and the Tramway Museum Society the tour will start off at Phoenix Park with tickets costing £30.

The tour will leave Phoenix Park at 0925 (with participants asked to arrive no later than 0910 for introductions) and will depart from platform 2 before running through the centre road at The Forest and then onto platform 1 at Toton Lane. From there it is off to University Boulevard where the crossover will be used and then its Beeston Centre (turnback), Nottingham Station (using the Station Street crossover) and back to platform 1 at Clifton South where a break will be taken.

Following the break the tour will run to Southchurch Drive North (using the Fairham Brook crossover), Clifton Centre (turnback), The Forest (centre track) and then into Wilkinson Street Depot. After a tour of the depot the tour runs to the crossover at Bulwell, and then Highbury Vale crossover before finally returning to Phoenix Park platform 2 at approximately 1530.

The depot tour will enable participants to see behind the scenes with the tram maintenance and stabling facilities and operational areas like the Control Room all featured.

You can book your place on the tour by visiting https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/net-tram-system-tour-tickets-44850293435. Tickets cost £30 for this unique opportunity to not only see behind the scenes but to cover sections of track not normally used for passenger operations.
