DLR staff to get up to £2,500 Olympic Bonus

It has been announced that staff on the Docklands Light Railway could get a bonus of
up to £2,500 for working during the London Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer – including £900 for just turning up to work!

The DLR is expected to feel a lot of the burden of extra passengers during the event with not only the Olympic Park at Stratford but also venues such as ExCeL London, Woolwich and Greenwich on the network. The RMT Union had been negotiating with officials at Transport for London including the DLR for extra money for staff during this period when it is expected that 57% more passengers than usual will be carried.

The outline plans released by the RMT state that staff who attend work during the Games will receive a payment of £900 and there will also be overtime payments on top of this which could lead to some staff receiving an extra £2,500.
