Citylinks return to service in Sheffield

Following the complete withdrawal of all seven Citylink tram-train vehicles from service on Stagecoach Supertram after an incident at Shalesmoor they have now been cleared for use again. The vehicles had been withdrawn on Friday 16th February with Stagecoach Supertram immediately entering into discussions with the manufacturer to both identify and rectify the problem.

The incident which caused their withdrawal is believed to have involved 399 203 at Shalesmoor and all other vehicles in service at that time were taken out of use as soon as the severity was realised, regardless of where they were at the time.

After a week of hard work identifying and repairing the potential issue on the vehicles three were passed fit for service again and were used on Friday 23rd February – just seven days after their withdrawal.
