In Pictures: New advert for Edinburgh Trams 271

We’ve become used to bringing you news of adverts for C R Smith in Edinburgh but now a second commercial sponsor has come to the fore in the Scottish capital with Qatar Airways now advertising on 271. As has become the norm in Edinburgh the advert only features full height adverts on the third and fifth sections with the other sections of the tram only featuring adverts above the windows.

The tram debuted in service on Sunday 28th January and does make for a bit more variety away from C R Smith, although this time we don’t have to try and guess what the theme is of the two locations! The colours used on the advert blend in nicely with the Edinburgh Trams livery with Qatar Airways house colour being very similar.

With the application of this advert it now means that just seven of the 27 strong class of trams are in standard fleet livery. Of these 17 carry adverts for C R Smith, two are carrying adverts for internal promotions and now 271 advertising Qatar Airways.

Two days later on 30th January and we see 271 again. This time we are at St Andrew Square.

  1. Bigalasdair says:

Yet again replicating some CR Smith advert trams, in their haste to apply vinyl, Gogar depot has omitted tram numbers at drivers’ cab ends !
