Around the World in 18 Trams: Zurich 1666 & 1667

Merry Christmas! It may be Christmas Day but that doesn’t mean the updates stop as we continue our around the world trip with a visit to Zurich.

This shows Zurich trams 1666 and 1667 which have just left the Bellevue stop and are just crossing quay brucke working route 2 from Bahnhof Tiefenbrunnen to Farbhof. The trams were built 1966-1968 by Schlieren/SIG and this type are now all withdrawn. They are passing tram 2311. The system is Zurich is metre gauge. The trams were captured on 23rd June 2009.

No 2311 is a trailer tram from a small batch of 15 built in 1978 by Schlieren/Schindler. It was still running in October 2016 when I saw it on route 13 hauled by tram no 2065
