Major NET Phase Two works to start on Ruddington Lane

The next phase of works to extend Nottingham Express Transit through to Clifton have now commenced with the closure of a section of Ruddington Lane for six months. This work will see some of the road lowered so that trams can cross Ruddington Lane on the level near to the Nottingham South and Wilford Industrial Estate and some utility diversion work, track laying and the installation of new traffic/tram lights will also be undertaken at the same time.

Ruddington Lane will be closed between Fieldway and the entrance to the South Nottingham and Wilford Industrial Estate with a signed diversion route out into place for traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. In addition a free replacement shuttle bus will operate along Ruddington Lane and Wilford Lane to Roko Health Club where passengers will be able to catch other bus services.

Cllr Jane Urquhart, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Transportation at Nottingham City Council, said: “We recognise that this is a widely used route and remain committed to ensuring disruption is kept to a minimum, and that’s why we are working with Trent Barton to provide a free replacement shuttle service. While the works may cause some short-term inconvenience, in the longer term, the people of Wilford and Compton Acres will benefit from a fast, reliable and convenient tram service – with journeys into the city centre expected to take just 15 minutes from the Ruddington Lane tram stop.”
