More Metrolink delays after two incidents in one day

Manchester Metrolink services were delayed on two lines on Friday 28th September after  two separate incidents with one seeing a tram failure whilst the other was a result of a collision between a tram and a taxi.

The first incident occurred at St Peter’s Square when M5000 3004 was involved in a collision with a taxi as it headed towards Altrincham shortly after departing from the tramstop here. The tram suffered minor damage with the coupler cover being dented but no injuries were reported at the scene.

Meanwhile the dreaded tram failure caused problems on the Eccles and MediaCityUK lines after a vehicle suffered a brake fault at Exchange Quay. All trams were suspended on this route whilst engineers attended to the tram.
