In Pictures: Bournemouth 85 & Friends!

As we have already reported on British Trams Online, Bournemouth 85 was the undisputed star of the show at Crich Tramway Village’s ‘Tram Day’ on Saturday 16th September. Bearing this in mind, and because we are rather taken with it, here are some more pictures taken on this day showing 85 in the company of other vehicles in the Crich fleet.

This event may well have been the only chance to see Bournemouth 85 displayed along with some other trams in the national collection as its narrow gauge means that it is unlikely to be moved much once it takes its place in the Exhibition Hall, which is expected to happen imminently.

Our first image sees Bournemouth 85 joined by Glasgow 1068 and Sheffield 330 for the main line-up at lunchtime.

Not a billed event but very nice nonetheless, was this pairing of 85 with Chesterfield 7 in its similar maroon and yellow livery.

The Tramway Museum Society's very first tram Southampton 45 meets its latest acquisition on the depot fan.

At the end of the day the museum's electric tug was used to drag 85 back into the depot, with London Transport 1622 looking on. (All photos by Andrew Waddington)
