Norman Baker gets NET Phase Two Update

Transport Minister Norman Baker, who kept his job at the Department for Transport as part of the recent reshuffle, has been given an update on how the plan to extend Nottingham Express Transit is progressing during a visit to the City to launch a fleet of electric buses.

Mr Baker took a trip on the tram between Old Market Square to Station Street and then  took a tour of the integrated transport hub under development at the railway station. He was also able to view the work that is already underway as part of NET Phase Two which
will see the network extend to Chilwell and Clifton by 2014.

Roger Harrison, Tramlink Nottingham’s Chairman, commented: “The Minister is taking a keen interest in the NET development project following his visit here at the beginning of the year when we officially marked the start of Phase Two construction work. The new tram network will be central to the future of public transport integration in Nottingham and the Minister was able to see at first hand the progress we are making.”
