Picture in Time: Nottingham Express Transit 215

This week our modern tramway Picture in Time image is from Nottingham Express Transit as we feature the last of the Bombardier Incentro trams – no. 215.

Taken on 29th August 2007 this photo shows 215 as it arrives at The Forest tram stop with its unique three platform layout. The tram is operating a service through to the then terminus at Station Street and will use the single platform out of view to the right. 215 is one of 15 trams built for the opening of Nottingham Express Transit between the city centre and Hucknall/Phoenix Park and became the last tram to be constructed in the UK with these trams being assembled in Derby; all subsequent Bombardier trams for the UK have been built in mainland Europe. As with all the trams 215 remains in service today although a rebranding exercise has seen this version of the fleet livery replaced by a silver based colour scheme.
